Providence Regional Medical Center Everett – Tentative Agreement Reached! Next Steps

Message to OPEIU Local 8 represented at PRMCE sent on March 5, 2026 –

We are excited to announce that yesterday, March 4, we reached a tentative agreement (TA) with Providence Everett for our next union contract! Next, we will vote — and your bargaining team is proud to recommend a ‘YES’ vote.

Over the past several months, the team has worked tirelessly to negotiate an agreement with Providence Everett. Many of you reached out wondering why it has taken so long, and we all agree: this process has been drawn out for far too long. Now, it’s finally time for members to review the TA and then cast their vote.

Here are the highlights:

  • No Takeaways!
  • A minimum wage increase of 5% second full pay period following ratification (the vote). Most jobs in our bargaining unit will see wage increases above 5% due to market adjustments and because of the Everett minimum wage increase.
  • First full pay period following November 1, 2026, another across the board increase of 2%. This equals a minimum of 7% for all in the year, but again, most jobs will see more due to market adjustments plus anniversary steps.
  • First full pay period following April 1, 2027, 1% across the board increase.
  • First full pay period following November 1, 2027, 1.75% across the board increase.
  • First full pay period following April 1, 2028, 1.25% across the board increase for a total of 3% across the board in the last year of the Agreement.
  • Effective November 1, 2026, step 25 will be closed (no longer a “ghost” step) which adds 2% to that step and continues across all following steps.
  • Effective November 1, 2027, step 28 will be closed, adding 2% to that step and continuing across the following two steps of the wage scale.
  • Two full pay periods following ratification, a pro-rated by FTE bonus of $300 and a $200 bonus in the second year.
  • Effective January 1, 2028, all will move up a step on their anniversary date, regardless of hours worked, and any employee who is four or more steps below their years of service will advance two steps on the scale on their next anniversary date.
  • A new LOU creating a “Healthcare Advocate Committee” to be convened within 90 days of ratification consisting of 3 members of the Union to help resolve issues our members might have regarding accessing disability and absence management.
  • A guarantee that our Union members will not pay for parking through the life of the Agreement!
  • Adding Patient Sitters to our contract and placing them on the wage scale. Many of the Patient Sitters will receive a bonus in addition to placement on the scale.
  • The ability to request removal of disciplinary actions from personnel files.
  • Members with remaining EIB hours can use them on the first day of illness throughout the life of the Agreement.

Be sure to attend one of the votes to see all the details, and mark your calendars for March 13, 14 and/or 16! We will be requesting rooms at both campuses and, once we get those rooms and times confirmed, we will send out further notice.
